Hi Linux-SMPers,

I've been thinking it's time to upgrade my Cyrix P200+ and I've been
looking into SMP in a big way. I've decided on the ASUS-P2B and a PII of
some description, the only problem is being in Australia we're all getting
bitten hard by our poor exchange rate and I just cant afford to buy both
CPUs at once. Reading this group and surfing the web I get the impression
that I can stick on CPU in a dual board now and (ignoring the problems with
getting the same stepping PII) when I have enough cash I can get another
CPU of the the same speed and bingo - dual heaven.

The question is - is it that simple? At work we have a number of brand
name servers who are duals but only have one CPU fitted, the other slot 1
is filled with what is described in one of the manuals as a 'terminator
card'. In all the mesages I have read about SMP I haven't heard anybody
talk about these mysterious terminator cards. Is this card necessary? Will
is come with the dual mobo? Can I get one easily if it doesn't come with
the mobo? Do they really exist or are they just figments of my deranged mind?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
