No need --- it is fixed in 2.2.1.

No, except for those occuring after crashes to other bits of the
system. There were one or two problems with files being held open over
reboot forcing e2fsck in some of the kernels leading up to 2.2, but no
ext2fs-specific issues that I can think of.
