Hello,
I seem to also have this problem - just reproduced it 2.1.131
also. It get it when I manipulate large images in GIMP - which is single
threaded so my load is only reaching 4ish. After it starts happening the
system gets slower and slower until I stop and restart the rc5 clients. It
can get so slow that you can see the screen redraw itself on the text
terminal (eg pine) when there is nothing else running except for the
rc5 clients.
I am willing to try any patches/tests...

H/W:
Dual P2-266s on BX motherboard with onboard AIC 7895 - only one channel in
use - all narrow devices. 64Mb.
NCR 810 SCSI card with a single Barracuda on it.
i740 graphics card (eugh - it was v cheap) running the Xserver from
redhat. I can try and reproduce it with the X68FB server if anyone thinks
it might matter.
