Veering back on-topic (at least somewhat), what is the reason for this?
Is it a limitation of the kernel itself? Or is it the fault of hardware?
If it is the fault of hardware, then why do SMP systems come with these
features in the bios?
If it is the fault of the kernel, then what is the problem keeping us
from having this support in the kernel?
Sorry if these questions have been asked before. If someone can point me
to a place on the web where these questions are answered, then please do.
