i was suffering from bezerko mouse and subsequent keyboard loss under
X and smp. it seems my video card (an old diamond stealth 3d 2000 -
the plain S3ViRGE chipset) couldn't handle four ppro-200s banging away
on it. (see my mail about it back in september of this year on the
linux-smp list.) since switching to a 3dfx voodoo3 2000 card, i
haven't had any trouble in that department.
it may be as simple a problem as the video card not being able to
handle the tremendous amount of action they get from SMP linux,
XFree86 and today's faster processors. the problem got worse with XiG,
which, as i understand, is even more aggressive in trying to active
video card accelerations.
