It doesn't surprise me.  There is only a small number of devices that work 
with 2.4.22 and fail with 2.6.0 -- as you would expect!

I forgot to mention before something else you can try.  I don't know if it 
will help.  Probably not, but it's worth a try.

You will have to manually edit the file drivers/usb/storage/scsiglue.c in 
your kernel source.  Around about line 320 in the file you may or may not 
see a line that says

        .max_sectors =          240,

If it's there, try changing the 240 to 120.  If it's not there, try adding

        .max_sectors =          120,

after the line that says

        .sg_tablesize =         SG_ALL,

This will reduce the amount of data that Linux sends to your drive at any 
one time, down to a maximum of 60 KB.  Like I said, it probably won't 
help, but just in case your device has trouble dealing with larger 
transfers you should try it.
