Thanks for the hint. I've attached a trace -- it didn't take long to
reproduce the problem. The trace is from a sample printout attempt. One
truncated page got printed and then the system went into an endless loop
of:

drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: error -110 reading printer status

The -71 error won't appear until I physically turn the printer
off. Nothing else will happen either -- this endless loop will just
continue.

This problem occurs about 75% of the time -- e.g. whenever I try to
print something, more than 3 times out of 4 the printer will get
stuck. This is not a foo2zjs issue, as the actual zjs output is
fine. Also, power cycling the printer sometimes gets me the full
printout after CUPS retries printing from the beginning.
