THanks for the response. I switched the controller module from usb-uhci to uhci, and now when I try to mount /dev/sda I get a log message:
Jun 3 13:53:59 localhost kernel: Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
however, the mount never returns and ps shows it in state d.
I guess the problem is that the camera doesn't really implement the usb Mass Storage interface correctly (sigh!!).
Anyway, thanks for the help! larry

I have recently purchased a Fuji FinePix 3800 digital camera. It works fine under Windows, but I have been unable to figure out which device I should mount to mount it under Linux 2.4. I tried sda and sda1 and got "Not a valid block device".
You seem to have other scsi devices, have you tried sdb1, sdc1, etc?
I've been working on this with kernel 2.5.69, there's a utility called lsscsi which is very useful but which relies on 2.5 kernel features. Here's some output:
hurricane:~# >>> lsscsi [0:0:0:0] cd LITE-ON LTR-48246S SS0A /dev/sr0 [1:0:6:0] disk IOMEGA ZIP 250 K.47 /dev/sdb [2:0:0:0] disk Sandisk ImageMate SDDR-0 0208 /dev/sdc [3:0:0:0] disk IOMEGA ZIP 250 90.V /dev/sdd hurricane:~# >>>
As you can see on this system sda is missing entirely!
