Quite right. I don't think I was very careful when I read your first message. Do you know how to apply the "pci=biosirq" recommendation? It's a kernel parameter, if you're using LILO you can put it in lilo.conf in a line append=" pci=biosirq" (and then rerun /sbin/lilo) or if you get a boot: prompt simply add it to the line before you hit enter or the timeout is reached and the kernel starts to boot.
