Sorry, I spoke too soon. The situation is still not perfect. If I 'unplug' the drive by pulling the power, then it works properly in both cases. But if I unplug the drive by pulling the usb cable *after* previously detecting the drive, then the driver fails to recognise the drive in *either* case. ie: The following two cases work: - Drive is off - Drive usb cable is plugged in - Module is loaded - Drive power is plugged in - Drive is off - Drive usb cable is plugged in - Module is unloaded - Drive power is plugged in - Module autoloads The following two cases do not work: - Drive is plugged in and detected - Drive usb cable is unplugged - Drive usb cable is replugged - Drive is plugged in and detected - Drive usb cable is unplugged - Module is unloaded - Drive usb cable is replugged. Clearly, a drive that has been previously initialised does not respond the same as one that's just been powered on. --phil ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is Sponsored by the Better Software Conference & EXPO September 19-22, 2005 * San Francisco, CA * Development Lifecycle Practices Agile & Plan-Driven Development * Managing Projects & Teams * Testing & QA Security * Process Improvement & Measurement * http://www.sqe.com/bsce5sf _______________________________________________ [email protected] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
