I have a Microstar motherboard with AMD chipset, and get mixed
results. I have one machine running 2.2.14 with USB backport, and an HP
deskjet 970 (USB) attached to it, working almost flawlessly.
I've also got a Creative USB webcam III, and that one doesn't seem quite
as easy to get to work. I usually manage to take a few pictures, but after
a while, the machine running it will crash. I've upgraded the kernel to
2.3.99-pre4.5 but it still crashes.
Installing 2.3.99-pre5 just now made things worse: now I don't even get an
image anymore (which worked, for a few times at least, with -pre4.5).
It looks like I'll need an UHCI machine to get my camera to work...
