Thanks for the helpful hints.
I guess it is time for me to jump into the water and see if I can
swim. I'll begin researching who is working on creating prototype
init scripts for distributions. Hopefully, someone is.
In the meantime, I'll try your dual dev/devfs configuration.
I'll also try the devfsd that can be made to emulate the old
directory tree.
Greg, if you have a moment, would you also send out a message
with links to the devfs reference pages that explain how to set
things up as you have?
