Is this a home user, or a user on a LAN? An Xterm would do the job on an older machine...
I've got a thing for that at the mo, as I've spent a chunk of time over the break so far playing with setting up 'thin' xterms at work, in experimentation mode, so to speak. Star Office, Gimp, Netscape etc on a P70 with 32M of ram.. Not a problem :-). (Running an athlon 1800XP as the host that is.. :-). Which remind me, anyone else playing around with Xterms, My one problem is what I do to get an Xterm to shutdown cleanly from runlevel 5, when I've done an 'X -broadcast' in inittab? Bearing in mind that all the machine has is XFree86, networking and some basic utils (ping etc). Cheers, Chris. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Yuri de Groot" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 1) X is big and bloated and the less stuff I have running on this particular machine the better. 2) This particular user doesn't want to fiddle around with X.
