Hi folks,
I have been trying to get a PCTel SiS 630 Intel 537 onboard modem going,
as per ScanModem instructions.
On driver compilation, it fails, saying that my gcc3 working on the
available gcc2 files downloaded is "known not to work". I'm running RH9
on an Athlon XP1800.
Can someone please confirm or enhance these two options?:
1. Install an older distro with gcc2 on a spare partition to run
the available driver (Mdk 8.2 from Installfest '02 still runs it ok, but
needs updating).
2. Wait until the gcc3 compatible code is produced by some kind soul, &
try again.
In the meantime I've employed a 56K external workaround. It's just good
to be efficient with resources, long term. It's also nice using these
up-to-date releases, IMHO :-)
Thanks
Rik
