Not quite. There is a very significant difference you missed. If I have
an Open Source program that is insecure I can secure it myself. If I
have a closed source program that is not secure, I am dependent on the
manufacture to secure it for me.

This is why Microsoft can be taken to court for shipping insecure goods.
It's like shipping a sealed door lock that works 99% of the time.
