but this is not restricted to closed source programming.
in free software projects the same things can and do happens.

i constantly see people complain about this or that ugly code someone wrote.

the difference is how the programmers see their work. if you take pride
in your work you will write good code. wether the source is closed or
open and wether you get paid or not. if you only love the money you get
from work then you will care less, and create the above result.

we don't find out much about bad free software, because it doesn't get
the publicity that good apps get since there is no marketing to hype
them.
