Come on, people. The original poster mentioned that he'd tried creating a 'wheel' group, adding his user to that group, and altering the PAM configuration to account for the existence 'wheel'. > I'm pretty sure that is the position on debian. No, it's not. Debian doesn't even have a 'wheel' group. The closest thing it has is the 'root' group, and membership of this group is not a prerequisite of using 'su'.
