Automatically mounting devices is the job of other userspace tools that are connected to the new D-Bus message-passing system. I doubt that it would take much to write a small dÃmon to listen for a message and mount the device. (The example D-Bus program turns down the sound volume if the phone rings!) If you were running GNOME you could run gnome-volume-manager which does perform automounting â but you are right in avoiding X on a server. -- Michael JasonSmith http://www.ldots.org/
