Good call, well made :)

Automatically mounting devices is the job of other userspace tools that
are connected to the new D-Bus message-passing system. I doubt that it
would take much to write a small dÃmon to listen for a message and mount
the device. (The example D-Bus program turns down the sound volume if
the phone rings!) If you were running GNOME you could run
gnome-volume-manager which does perform automounting â but you are right
in avoiding X on a server.



There's always a catch, isn't there. installing udev breaks the nvidia display drivers. I didn't build this server, so can't even reinstall them. I'll just shoot the pr*t who did build it next time I see them (:

Can't comment on whether you can reinstall given the proper, clean kernel source tree.
