Makes an iPhone at $199 seem cheap LOL
(albeit on a 24 month contract, not sure how much that will cost)

The monthly contract for the $199 8GB iPhone is $250 with 1GB data.

Over the 24 month term, that's $6000 + $199 + voice calls off the bundle.

Vodafone include 600 anytime minutes and 600 texts to any network in the plan (http://www.vodafone.co.nz/iphone/8gb-black.jsp). Still comes to $6199 for the 8GB iPhone. $6199 for a closed device(You can't take the battery out) with plan. $499 for a /completely// /open(With screw driver and guitar pick) device.
Which one would /you/ get?

Let's compare apples with apples (sorry):

Vodafone YouChoose with 600+600 = $240/month, approx.
Vodafone Broadband Everyday 1Gb = $60

$300/month over 2 years is $7200.

They offer a $400 subsidy on a "New Vodafone mobile" - which presumably wouldn't extend to the OpenMoko.

Oops: The OpenMoko is a WiFi phone. Add SIP calling, and never hand Vodafone a cent for voice or data (unless you get caught away from an 802.11 base).
