So if you were to run "glxinfo" it lists that dri=yes ? and what kind of fps are you getting with "glxgears -time" ?
Here's what I see for a Radeon 8500le 64meg:
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R200 20020827 AGP 4x x86/MMX/3DNow!/SSE TCL
And it gives me: 11058 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2211.400 FPS
