well, i got to the point where i saw: direct rendering: Yes however, if i try & run glxgears, my entire X session goes to hell, with the output getting literally smeared horizontally across the screen. this was with 32MB of memory specified in XF86Config. when i reduced it to 4096, X fails to start altogether, and i see these errors: [drm:i810_unlock] *ERROR* Process 587 using kernel context 0 mtrr: base(0xf8000000) is not aligned on a size(0x4b0000) boundary
