Fudgetta bout it. For reasons unclear, my old kernel seems to be blown away, too. So, I have to reinstall lindows. And I'll forget about getting the Zire to work with linux. 8 hours is enuf. BTW, knoppix was far from ideal as a rescue disk. It has security restrictions which limit its usefulness. Joel
