Thanks. I've just tried LD_KERNEL_ASSUME and export it, but still have the same problem.
My best guess is its related to the NPTL stuff in the RH9 kernel. Have you tried exporting LD_KERNEL_ASSUME=2.2.5 first?
Have you downloaded the latest FPSE from MS? The one that comes with the CD's is probably too old for use with RH9.
