Yes they do, but the SUV in most of the USA exists solely to proclaim one's status and
advertise one's success to the lowly
who can't afford them. How else do you account for the fact that the majority of the
people who drive them never take these
four wheel drive vehicles off of concrete highways for fear of scratching the paint,
or Detroit's recent switch to
passenger car suspensions to avoid bruising the rosy red rumps of the energy swilling
social climbers who drive them. And
before anyone jumps down my throat, yes I do realize that there is a valid purpose for
some SUVs; particularly, in Canada,
Maine all the way south to PA where snow plays havoc with driving. But, how do you
account for the fact that my home state
of Florida is full of these slug mobiles. If one wishes to proclaim his/her status buy
yourself a $1,000 hand made Italian
suit and leave a little gasoline for the next generation.
