I did ... and had a $£@! nightmare, retreating to an old kernel to bleat and 
plead for help. The library headaches alone are enough to put you off it. I 
joined the pppd list and got 5000 e-mails a day while some nice guy wrote a 
patch for me - you don't get that every day!! Then the kernel (2.3.36 iirc) 
started consuming resources bigtime; I joined the kernel list and got 25 
digests of 5000 emails each a day - with zigabytes on the 2038 date problem 
:-((.  

This is why people buy distributions, and enjoy life.
