Yes, I don't use it anywhere important by choice ( this workstation is
CentOS 6 for example... reliable as, but frustrating in the multimedia
stakes ).

Although I have just set up a Percona MySQL cluster nationwide using it
- not my choice ( on the OS front... I always use Percona when I can! ),
but apart from SP's blocking ports and denying point blank that they are
( and the aforementioned cowsay incident ), no real problems.

If there wasn't much typing involved, I'd suggest an android tablet...
although that may be a bit too much of a culture shock.

You're looking for something that just resets every boot? I have used
webkiosk in the past, but it was 5+ years ago so probably too far back
to be of any relevance. That's debian based I think. Not sure how you'd
handle updates though.

The alternative is you build something that offers a VPN that you can
get into if there are problems ( if she's not too far away to set the
router up - hint run it on TCP/80 and it works from *anywhere* )
