I expected that they would have the same encryption, but I wouldn't have thought, that your iPod would work with a 3g firmware. Can you confirm the firmware was really installed? Does it show version 1.1.3 again? Did it really downgrade to 1.1.1 properly? Can you make a snapshot of the firmware partition? Has someone already compared 2g and 3g firmware images? How do they usually differ?
