The event is going to on the East side of NYC. Javits Center is on the West side. Good! If driving into the city, well, there will be snarls. News articles about the situation at http://www.ny1.com/ny/TopStories/SubTopic/index.html?topicintid=1&subtopicintid=1&contentintid=18823 From http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/40123.htm --- Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly sent a letter to businesses near the conference, warning that protesters often pose as diners at restaurants near the summit to cause disruptions. He also sent out maps showing the extent of the traffic disruption and urged commuters to abandon their cars, as nearly 20 blocks of Midtown streets will be closed to traffic beginning tomorrow - and other streets could be shut anytime. The streets to be closed are Lexington Avenue between 47th and 57th streets; East 49th between Third and Madison avenues; East 50th between Third and Fifth avenues; and East 51st Street between Park and Madison avenues. Local lanes of First Avenue between 42nd and 47th streets will also be closed, but the First Avenue Tunnel will remain open. --- <end of snippet> J.D.
