Ubuntu is the most popular and people say its easy to use for a
newbie.  Also Xandros OS is very easy to use.  PCLinuxOS is also good
for newbies and Mandriva.

Linux XP I don't know anyone who uses it I think its a russian distro.

I would say Slackware is for a more advanced user and Suse and Fedora
for a moderalty experienced user
