Ian,
Another things to consider is that if you have an x86_64 architecture,
that is now a seperate LiveCD from the Intel x86 "defualt" disk.  With
some distros, the x86 LiveCD *will not* install on a x86_64.  Make
sure you match up when using an AMD 64 processor (like me :)
