I don't know how I missed noticing Puppy's roots, and the visual
similarities between Vector's panel/window design and Puppy's
(especially Puppy 3.0).

Puppy is another great distro, it runs very well on modest (or even
downright ancient) hardware -- and does equally well in recognizing
top-notch hardware and video modes (like 1600x1200).

Puppy is a little too utilitarian for my taste for regular use. I
keep it on hand for basic rescue, recovery and hardware troubleshooting.

The LiveCD installs it (by default) completely to RAM, and even so,
it's tiny enough to survive on a 64MB system! Running from RAM then
frees your CD drive back up, which is crucial on systems with only one
such drive!

multimedia distro. Suse is an early fork from Slackware and it is
slick and full featured.

You've gotten ME curious about zenwalk now...
