Give Zorin OS a try (www.zorin-os.com), it is pretty awesome and brings all of the Classic Ubuntu Features back with some cool animated . graphics.
There are free and paid versions... Perfect for the Linux Newbie, the only thing I have noticed (In the free versions) are some limited networking support.
