Even the old 430TX chipset can handle Its mostly just a matter of space issues and palin being lazy. A lot of commercial motherboard are routed on 6 layers rather than 8. Doing this makes the routeing much tighter but saves $$. On those boards it can really come down to just needing the space for one or 2 more routes.
