The BIOS calls need to be ripped out.

Here is my immediate recommendation.  Someone should start
with src/standalone/lbbl and add the features they need.

We already have ide disk and floppy support.

>From what I have seen when you have a hard size target starting
from scratch and adding what you need is a good way to keep the size
down.

And you can test lbbl by netbooting it, so it shouldn't be to bad.
