Hello Alain and everybody else,

It is good to have a "target audience", but we should
be carefull not to define a two narrow one.

Linux fit in many situations, for example, from web
server to game platforms.

<<<
Better to help people to feel more efficient and more
creative, step by step along the need, than to
maintain a border between 'gurus' and ordinary people.
>>>
This is very important.
Most of the gurus, were "newbies" one day.

Some of them learned by them-selves, others listened
to some friends/collegue.

Several people described some example workstations we
could use.
As long as they are simple with a few prg running
well, Their is more chance to have a win situation.

In my "LUG" we may have a few 486 and P-1 running one
window manager, and two or three applications max.

Each would have a differend window manager.
One could have Applix, another one could have
StarOffice, another one could have a lighter office
suite, (specially on a 486).

Same thing for window manager, it doe not really
matter which one we run. But it is good to show the
diversity of what's available on Linux.

Some applications are better than others for demo or
presentations.
Xephem come to my mind right now, but they are several
others as good.
With Xephem it is possible to have an animation, like
the moon spinning or planet Mars.
All in colors.

Of course, nothing is wrong by also showing some more
powerful situations as a cluster.

        Eugene
