Hi Aditya,
Plz. dont get surprised. i will tell u the reason. i m
not in an it company. i work for finance company as
system admin. so i have one machine which runs as
server for few programs. so i cant format the hd and
devote this for linux. and i m afraid of installing
red hat because i think its not easy. anyway.
i tried all these things what u told me.
1. locate -u didnt do anything.
2. man -k network showed me a list of network related
commands, which i dont know how to use them.

i think that my linux has detected my network card,
now how to assign ip address to my machine and make it
visible to other windows users on the network.

i too have problems in installing rpm packages, it
gives me hell lot of dependencies problem.

and just for you kind information, i have worked a lot
on almost all flavours of unix extensively, so u can
ask me to do anything with my linux. :)
Hope to hear from u soon.
ok bye and best regards
