It will work. The stuff will complain if it's the wrong kernel version,
but by $DIETY it will boot! I did it! You don't even need initrd.tgz, a
kernel is enough. I think there's a util floating around that can read
linux binary files from dos (lread only does text), you might use that to
get at the correct kernel. Only other things you need are loadlin and a
linux partition.

No initrd.tgz
