Hi Linuxers,
It seems that my mail to BT and subsequent forwarding to
list has generated quite a few responses. Here are some
clarifications.

It seems that there was no further responses other than
Satya and Sagar so I waited sometime after preparing my
draft and ultimately sending it to BT.

I am extremely sorry that I didn't ask.

In any case I have sent the mail to BT. This can not be
undone. But you can take my mail and send further response
to BT while freely quoting me without my perm. So now ball
is in ur court. Anyway your point well taken.

err.. It seems that I must have missed the story in
LinuxToday about awarding Doctorate to (Now Dr.) Mr.
Torvalds.(And how do I make a slash throu' the o or two dot
over it?)

What I meant is not the development of distros but the
bundled utils as such while reffering to FSF and others,
though RedHat, SuSE and others do contribute to code base,
largest code base is still derived from other sources as
mentioned by me.

Good idea. Why not start creating such a press release right
now. For that matter I will prepare a draft and post it here
for a comment "BEFORE" posting to BT or other publications.

Even though I was reffering to Sagar's quote (about donning
badges of certification for other OSs, which are not
relevant in any which way while promoting Linux or other
Open Source OSs), its still true and I do stand by my
statement about the quality of pros churned out, dime a
dozen, by these companies, so that they can claim that their
OSs are supported by so many, so called qualified pros. You
would not believe how many support calls I receive for other
OSs by those certified pros in solving their day to day
problems even though I do not have any of those
certificates.

How many OSs comes bundled with whole lot of apps. and utils
apart from browsers? The point I was making is that most of
the things in Linux and Open Source community is free and
the cost associated with any distro has nothing to do with
OS itself but for the media, manuals, support and likes.

Your e-motions(!) are well founded and I have gone through
similar emotions - so a prompt mail to BT.
