What is "Gnome Screen Resolution switcher" ?
Do you mean gnome-control-center->Screen resolution->Screen resolution
preferences ?
Probably, except that I invoke it from the rightmost "System" menu
(on Fedora Core 5).
Because if this is the case, it does not help me. I can reduce the
resolution to 800x600, but Im unable to switch to the internal monitor.
You have to specify the correct MetaModes in your xorg.conf:
Option "MetaModes" "1600x1200, [EMAIL PROTECTED]; NULL,
1680x1050; NULL, 1400x1050; NULL, 1280x1024; NULL, 1024x768; NULL,
800x600; NULL, 640x480"
Read NVidia's README.

However, it's a bit old. I now do have full resolution, and I can
switch between internal-only and internal+external - but only as
long as the external monitor is plugged in when I start X.
