I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex). It installs a driver called
"eeepc". Not sure what it does, but it didn't support the wireless
card out of the box per say.

I had to download the madwifi source which includes the "ath_pci" and
the "ath_hal" drivers that will be needed. I'm not sure if your
particular EeePC uses the same drivers as my 7 inch model. After
removing the original "ath_pci" and "ath_hal", it was just a matter of
untarring and building the drivers.

Ubuntu looks good on the EeePC.
