Unfortunately while a trial balloon, it's probably basically true. It's exactly the kind of silliness that non-technophiles can be convinced into signing off on. Like the DMCA, broadcast flag, etc. Sadly even if these tea party libertarians make it into office I doubt even then the "freedom" issues we technical types seem to care about will fare any better.
