Hi there, Here's my pastebin:
http://pastebin.org/87336 I was hoping to not have any issues after upgrading to Squeeze, but that's not the case. The upgrade went fine after I figured out how to work around the broken packages issue. I now have 3 kernels - 2.6.26-2-686, 2.6.30-2-686 and 2.6.32-trunk-686. When I initially booted to the 2.6.32 kernel - the xorg.conf.orig was the /etc/X11/xorg.conf. With this one, the 2.6.32 kernel would boot, but when GDM was supposed to put the login screen, it was instead a blank black screen with a bit of backlighting. In the 2.6.30 kernel, GDM started and then the screen went totally black - like the computer was turned off. The 2.6.26 kernel worked fine. The only thing I had to do was put a link in my startup files to start metacity because the window dressings were gone. It's worked fine ever since. The xorg.conf.config was created by doing 'Xorg -configure' as root. When I used it, none of the kernels worked right. When I renamed both files to what they are in the pastebin and had no xorg.conf file, the same thing happened when the xorg.conf.orig was the xorg.conf file. I haven't needed to work with X nor GDM for quite a while because the distros I've used has been pretty much plug & play. I know there's a way to fix this, but my computer specialty doesn't cover this area. Any help or questions would be promptly answered and greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Scott -- <>< Scott Vargovich <>< ------------------------------------------ OpenPGP Key ID: F8F5DC7E ------------------------------------------ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Linux Users Group.
