Lately though Ubuntu is getting to be known for random kernel crashes,
symptoms are: No key board input, no mouse input cold reboot is the only
way to gain back your system.
At least that is what I am facing on my single core Pentium 4, Ubuntu
10.04. Some people says that is due to bad memory in the system, or not
enough swap, however it is very annoying.
Perhaps a smaller distro will be a better choice under these
sircumstances or a non linux OS such as freeBSD I don't know.
If somebody else has a solution for this problem I am listening it.

We need a little more information then that. Example : What
version of Ubuntu, what type of PC, hardware specs, is it randomly
freezing, freezing on boot up?
The more information the more people can help.
