When I was contracting and had a customer that wanted to pay hourly I charged 100/hr net 30 invoiced weekly less 15% if payment was postmarked in 7 days, payments to be applied to the oldest invoice first.

A friend of mine who writes Java apps is in high demand because of the excellent referrals he receives is continually raising his prices because he has too much work. Last I knew he was charging 250 an hour and had clients willing to wait 6 months for an opening in his schedule. Wish I had his troubles :) I get good referrals but they aren't given in the crowd of people that have money to spend.

I tried the bid on a gig sites for a while and had the same problem as Brent, my 3k or 4k bid was competing with 100 dollar bids. I began posting SOW's only to find that the company was using my SOW to drive their project so I killed my subscription. Since I'm not a salesman I was soon back looking for a W-2 position but would love to get back into contracting if there's somebody out there who is good at sales that wants to partner with me.

Hey Everyone,
If this is not appropriate please let me know. I'm bidding on a job
and I'm wondering what other people are charging per hour? I work for
a large company doing Intranet work and it's been a while since I've
done any work on the Internet. A range would be fine, I'm just
trying to get an idea.
