The hack doesn't do that directly. Hacking allows homebrew (XBMC) to
run, XBMC has all the common and not-so-common codecs including MKV.
I am very impressed with MKV's support of multiple subtitles, I guess
DivX or other formats can also include subtitles but I haven't
encounter a subtitled DivX file yet or at least I haven't realized I
have. Anyhow, I can't wait for workday to be over so i can start the
hack. I am not a real hacker (even calling myself script kiddie might
be generous), I give myself a 50/50 to finish this weekend.

That's the main reason I did not go for an XBox 360 or PS3. I found
out that neither has sufficient coverage of common codecs as hacked
Apple TV or Xbox one. It seems a little less work and slightly
cheaper to try with an Xbox One. Apple TV needs extra hacks to output
Dolby 5.1 and High-def, while Xbox supports 1080i (enough for me) and
TOSLINK out of the box. Rant: XBox 360 not supporting MS's own AVI is
just ridiculous.

Anyway I think by the time I run the Xbox/XBMC to the ground,
bleeding-edge products like the Popcorn Hour
  http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/
will be cheap, powerful and stable. Making the HD-DVD vs. BluRay
format war a historic comedy.

I would suggest taking a look back at the history of MG and PG Seed
kits. It could be a long wait for MG Exia. And I don't get the
feeling that the first 13 eps of G00 has achieved comparable
popularity as the first quarter of Seed, so I am not buying into the
inevitability of MG/PG G00 kits just yet.
