Registrars are an unecessary, additional layer between the Users and
the Registries.

As Michael Sondow pointed out so eloquently, the end users are either
unable to sort out their ISPs or their ISPs are too ignorant to manage
the DNS properly. (or both :-)-O).

Of course the Registrars want to keep their license to print money and
the best way to do that is to restrict competition.
