This is absolutely out of line and insane. Domain Names are now
restricted to only those who have and are willing to use Credit cards.
So now we have ownership of a Credit Card as a condition of acquiring
a domain name.
This is absolutely wrong. The only way ISPs can get around this is to
PREPAY their customers registrations, thus tying up their liquid
capital.
Of course, this is what I predicted would happen, and the
consequences, when I spoke with Internetnews earlier this month, but I
did not expect to see a change this quickly.
Internet Presence and Service Providers will be the ones hit the
hardest by this, not to mention what it portends for individual
domain name ownership.
