Sorry to see you get burned out William. I know how much you put into this and
whether you realize it or not, it was appreciated. Sometimes taken for
granted, but appreciated.

I hope that you can hang in there long enough to provide for a graceful
transition so that folks can step up. It would be great if you could hang in
there for another meeting so that new leadership can be established.

Thanks for everything,

- Pat

Subject: Stepping down as admin, leader, etc

Given the lack of technical value coming from the mailing list and group
as of late. I am not seeing the return on investment I would like, or
any respect for efforts put forth from other long time JaxLUG members.
Some of which I rather avoid and not expose myself to if I do not have
to, or any accusations of harming the community, etc.

What is rather unfortunate is those that have not attended regularly or
in some time. Have not seen the meeting numbers grow and all the new
faces and blood. Constantly casting opinions/stones as to how to grow
the community, and saying it should be larger. Without them actually
doing their part, or realizing what has and is going on in the present
and recent past. Much less who is making it happen.

With that said I am stepping down as system administrator for the
JaxLUG. Which I had no intention of ever being. Just one day there was
no mailing list, till I did something. Few months later problems with
the wiki. Resulting in months of wiki data lost, most of which I had
entered. Thus I took that over as well. Then problems with DNS, so I
took that over. Finally as of last month domain expiration, which I
handled and paid for.

Thus how I came about to be system administrator was simply picking up
the ball when others dropped it. Which any other JaxLUG member could
have done any one of those things, rather than me doing it all. No one
else in the community stepped up, so I did it all. That is the same for
leading meetings, getting presenters, coordinating a venue/location,
buying pizza most times (in the past drinks as well), etc.

None of which I will be doing going forward. My level of participation
is yet to be decided, at this point considering none at all, or at most
be very minimally active.

I have sent Mike Rathburn per his request and offer a copy of the JaxLUG
virtual machine. That is a complete system, less a kernel and some
stuff. But has all configs and data for the wiki and mailing list. Along
with information on the domain name, so he can take over DNS as well.

At this point Mike Rathburn will be the new JaxLUG Systems
Administrator. If others want to step up with organizing meetings, etc.
That is up to the community moving forward. I will see about passing IRC
channel ops to another, but thats pretty moot at this point as far as I
am concerned.

Please do not email me privately off list about this. I do not want to
discuss any of this any further. I have done more than my share, and
really just want to be done with it all and move on. You won't be
hearing anymore from me on the matter, and likely any others :)

Thanks its been a hoot!
