Hi James,

SUSECon is the enterprise-level conference that runs during the week
preceding our weekend Summit. It is offered by SUSE which is our the
main sponsor of our openSUSE Project. They were kind enough to donate
us the space to use the hotel for the weekend for our own conference,
and we'd like to also give the local LUGs a chance to utilize the space
as well.

SUSECon is aimed at audiences that pay for enterprise-level Linux
services. It is a paid conference, as opposed to our conference which
is free. So what do you get for the "free" parts of SUSECon when you
register for openSUSE Summit?:

- Access to the Technology Showcase on Friday morning. This is the main
exhibit hall area and you can meet with various vendors and hear about
their products.

- Access to the closing keynote sessions. These keynote speeches tend
to cover the general state of industry and Linux. I know some SUSE
executives and Dell executives will be giving these keynotes, but I
don't have specifics on who and what their topics are.

- If you register for openSUSE Summit in advance, you can come to the
Linux Professional Institute Exam Cram on Thursday afternoon. LPI will
give a crash course to help you prepare for their world-respected LPI
certification which many Linux companies require if you want to work for
them. On Friday, you can take the exam for a discounted price of $99.

You won't be able to attend SUSECon presentation sessions (unless you
pay for registration there), but you get many similar topics by going to
the openSUSE Summit.

For openSUSE Summit, we have a party each night that promises to be
loads of fun. We will also have our own openSUSE Opening Ceremony where
you can be the first to get your hands on a copy of openSUSE 12.2 DVD
(openSUSE 12.2 will be formally released to the world this Wednesday.)

We are a very sociable conference and we encourage people to socailize
with each other. We offer the Geeko Lounge and we would like to offer
the LUG community a room to use with as they please. Your own
presentations, or a general LUG meeting, Or whatever you think works
well for your needs.

We just need to know soon if you indeed want us to block out a
conference room for LUGs.

James, if you've never been to a conference, we look forward to seeing
you there and I personally look forward to meeting you. What better
conerence to go to than one that is completely free? :-)

Bryen
